The Teaching and Learning with Technology undergraduate certificate provides students with the tools to acquire the knowledge and concrete skills to deploy educational technology theories and strategies in multiple fields while working at educational institutions, communication-related companies, public health entities and other industries.

This certificate is for both students in an education or non-education field. Education students will strengthen their know-how in learning innovations while being exposed to interdisciplinary stimuli and references and expanding their professional and academic horizon. Non-education students will access the most recent best practices in educational technology, applying them in their own field of reference and beyond.

The Event Management undergraduate certificate prepares students with the introductory and practical skills they need to enter the event management workforce. The curriculum incorporates the newest technologies and emerging trends in the industry. Program faculty are experts in their fields and have decades of experience applying the skills they teach in the classroom.

Graduates are prepared with skill sets that allow them to secure exciting positions with leading employers at hotels, wineries, private clubs, casinos, sporting events, meetings, trade shows, cruise lines and restaurants; or to be self-employed as an event planner.

Full Description

The Addictions Counseling undergraduate certificate prepares students with all the requisite training hours for licensure eligibility as a chemical dependency counselor in Ohio, issued by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board. The certificate supplements existing �Ը������� health and behavioral health degree programs, such as psychology, health education, and human development and family science. The certificate also allows in-career professionals to specialize in addictions counseling (e.g., nurses, clergy, rehabilitation counselors, mental health therapists). Successful completion of the first course in the certificate provides students the opportunity to apply for the chemical dependency counselor assistant (CDCA) credential from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.

Course content includes theories and models of addiction and addictive behaviors; pharmacology (i.e., review of substances typically misused, as well as medications used to treat symptoms of substance use disorders); screening and diagnostic assessment of substance use and co-occurring disorders; case conceptualization and treatment planning using the American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria; evidence-based practices in addictions (e.g., motivational interviewing, contingency management); and legal and ethical considerations in addictions counseling.

Experiential training is infused throughout the curriculum (e.g., use of simulated clients) and culminates in a practicum in the field at an approved behavioral healthcare facility offering addictions services under the supervision of an approved licensed behavioral healthcare provider.

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Technical Modeling Design offers creative students the technological and artistic skills to navigate today’s competitive career path. Graduates gain design skills in computer-aided design (CAD), 2D and 3D modeling, digital graphics, photo-realistic rendering, animations and videos.
