    Explore majors and discover career paths of interest to gather information and help align strengths, skills, and interests with career pathways.  Research different industries, occupations, and market trends to make informed decisions about career options.

    PREPARING for a Career

    Establish a unique identity and reputation that distinguishes from others in the field. Define personal brand by sharing personal story, showcasing strengths and achievements, and demonstrating value.  Develop a consistent offline and online presence.

    Create connections and build relationships with potential employers to learn industry trends, understand employer needs, develop in-demand skills, and identify opportunities. Connect with others and get involved in organizations to develop your network and begin your career.

    Develop career skills, apply knowledge, build critical competencies and gain experience through practical and experiential learning activities.     Transition from preparation to action and actively pursue opportunities to enter your chosen field (entry level position, grad school, military, etc.) Develop job/opportunity search strategies, create plans, and evaluate opportunities.

Career Advising Appointments

We offer one-on-one appointments in person as well as by phone or Microsoft Teams for students and alumni. Our services include resume and cover letter review, internship/co-op search, full-time job search, career exploration, mock interviews, LinkedIn, personal branding, and networking consultations. (Please note KSU Navigate Scheduling will open Aug. 11).

Try out our Virtual Resume Reviews by simply emailing a copy of your resume to the Career Services Office via buscareers@kent.edu.  

A member of our Career Advising team will review and reply back with comments and suggestions for improvement. It’s that easy! If you can also include a copy or link to your target job/internship description, then our CSO team members can suggest ways to tailor your resume for a specific position!
