Biography:
I am a PhD student, specializing in medical sociology. My substantive focus is sociomedical embodiment, particularly the social construction, interpretation, and evaluation of the body, with attention to eating disorders and medicalization. I am especially interested in how behaviors and appearances come to be understood as healthy, disciplined, attractive, or deviant across different social and cultural contexts. As a research assistant in the Center for Public Policy and Health, my broader research also includes the social processes that shape access to resources for individuals living with HIV and food insecurity among college students.
