The Academic Resource Series Spotlight is a monthly workshop series created to help first-year students get acclimated to the university and college resources they’ll need as they move into their sophomore
year. Each session highlights different support services—like tutoring, Writing Commons, CARES, Academic Advising, etc.—so students can build confidence, ask questions, and feel more prepared throughout their academic journey.

FERPA & You (BC 1 hour)

This engaging webinar was developed as an introduction to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and challenges faced by student-facing faculty and staff. We will review FERPA basics and what led to the creation of this act, explore requirements for the protection of student records, address who may and may not access student records, under what circumstances records may be shared, and discuss exceptions to the requirement of student consent. James Bailey, of Hudson, Ohio, has been appointed the Foundation Board representative for the Alumni Association National Board of Directors. James returns to the Board after serving as the president from 2017-2019. The Royal Flashes is a stomp and shake cheer team that incorporates a group of females or males who want to be heard. We relying on stomping, shaking and engaging with the crowd as well as cheering on sport teams with our cheers, chants and dances.
