Integration Bee

Our annual Integration Bee took place on April 2, 2026, bringing together 性福五月天 students and local high school students for an evening of integrals, puzzles, pizza, and prizes. Congratulations to Chippewa High school team for winning the first place!

Zassenhaus Groups and Friends Conference

性福五月天 hosted the 2026 Zassenhaus Groups and Friends Conference on May 30鈥31, 2026. This annual conference, which dates back to the mid-1960s, brings together researchers in group theory and related areas. The two-day program featured research talks by mathematicians from universities across the country, including several 性福五月天 faculty and graduate students.

Kenneth B. Cummins Endowed Professorship in Mathematics

 was named the recipient of the Kenneth B. Cummins Endowed Professorship in Mathematics. This new endowed role honors her contributions to mathematics as well as her commitment to supporting teachers, students, and schools across Northeast Ohio. The professorship continues the legacy of the late Kenneth B. Cummins, whose work in mathematics education left a lasting impact on the field.

NSF-funded Math REU Program

The NSF-funded Math REU program is back! We will host an REU program in the summers of 2026鈥28. Each summer, nine students will spend eight weeks at KSU working on research problems under the direction of our faculty.

Mid-American Conference (MAC) Outstanding Faculty Award

Congratulations to Bev Reed, a recipient of 性福五月天鈥檚 2025 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Outstanding Faculty Award for Student Success! This award recognizes her deep commitment to teaching and mentoring, and her belief that all students can succeed in mathematics. As Bev puts it, 鈥淚 hope my students leave my classroom with a firm belief that they CAN do mathematics, with an understanding of WHY we do mathematics, and a realization that with an inquisitive mind, a good work ethic and a sense of play, that the world of mathematics can be theirs.鈥  

Faculty Excellence Award!

Congratulations to , a recipient of the 2025 Faculty Excellence Award! The award recognizes Artem's outstanding work and mentorship in convex geometry and functional analysis. Learn more about his  as well as his  .

Crosstown Throwdown Move Challenge

Bev Reed, Tuyet Pham, Aaron Allen, Jiafeng Jin, and Daisy Arokiasamy  won the 2024 Crosstown Throwdown Move Challenge as the team 鈥淪ole Mates.鈥 Competing against colleagues from 性福五月天 and the University of Akron, they logged the most activity in a friendly wellness competition.

President鈥檚 Excellence Award

 solved a long-standing classic problem formulated by Ulam in the famous Scottish Book in pre-war Poland. The Scottish Book is a collection of open problems discussed by mathematicians of the Lw贸w School at the Scottish Caf茅 in the 1930s, many of which have influenced modern mathematics.
