The minimum acceptable cognitive, affective and psychomotor qualifications of a professional medical assistant include:
- Regularly work in a standing position and walk often.
- Physically assist patients from surface to surface.
- Apply manual pressure of up to 10 pounds to control bleeding or during CPR.
- React promptly to spoken commands and auditory signals from monitors and conduct auscultation without difficulty or interference.
- Maintain efficiency and accuracy throughout a 12-hour clinical shift.
- Demonstrates visual acuity for close and distant activities and the ability to perceive depth and colors.
- Must be able to accurately identify sharp, dull, hot, and cold sensations with both hands.
- Accurately perform dosage calculations and safe medication preparation and administration.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms, demonstrating proper grammar, vocabulary, and professional interpersonal skills.
